1 Oct. 2001 Male capybara, Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris at the Araras Pantanal EcoLodge, 82 miles south of Cuiaba. This is the largest rodent in the world. 60-80lbs is common but sometimes a few may reach 120 lbs. This male has just scent-marked the small clump of "grass" immediately behind him.
