In the wilds of Linhares one must be careful to avoid stepping on dead stick on the path. Occasionally one of them turns out to be a Bothrops (jararacussu?). We found two 30" such poisonous snakes here walking with Dilton of COA. These snakes can get to be 9 feet long. Look for the shiny eye in center right of this picture, if you don't see the snake at first. Photo taken 7 April 1996. In Brazil all snakes are called cobra.
